A Badger of a time (Closed)

BadgerStorm smiled as he padded into the nursery to see his kits sound asleep, or he thought they were until peregrinekit and firekit attacked him. “Aren’t you kits supposed to be sleeping.” he mewed while laughing

Firekit hated how she had to sleep during the day at times so when her father came in she attacked him in boredom. “It’s daytime daddy, I don’t wanna sleep, let’s play!” she mewed on top of his head.

Peregrinekit rolled onto his back, batting at his father's legs and underbelly playfully. "I'm too big for naps!" he protested, rolling back over and pushing himself to his paws, shaking a piece of moss from his medium-length coat. "We wanna do something fun!"

“How about I take you on and adventure.” he mewed down at his little bundles.


Firekit squealed in excitement and started to control his head. “Let’s go!” she mewed happily.

Peregrinekit nodded, his eyes lighting up. "Yes, that'd be great!"

BadgerStorm picked up peregrinekit by the scruff making sure Firekit didn’t fall off his head before he padded out of camp.

Firekit watched as the camp entrance came close and then vanished as they left. She looked around in awe at the big forest.

Peregrinekit struggled as his father picked him up, his little kit voice sounding a protest. "I can walk, dad! My paws work just fine!"

“You could easily walk on something that would harm your paws.” he mewed after he set peregrinekit down in a little grassy area with nothing that he could step on.


Firekit giggled as her father was soo worried over her brother. Why the two were talking, Firekit looked around wondering what it would be like to be an apprentice and hunting in these woods.

Peregrinekit scowled, his face screwing up with his frustration at being treated like a newborn. He wasn't. Soon he'd be an apprentice. He didn't know why his father was coddling him. "And you could step on things, too. Our aunt is the medicine cat, so it's not like we're in any real danger. I have to walk outside of camp at some point!" He dug his claws into the grass.

“Fine you can walk but stay close to me.” he said then when firekit started talking he answered her question as well. “Yes, you can.”” he sighed as he set firekit down on the ground. As the family headed deeper into the woods, lots of creatures ran off in fear of being their next prey.

Firekit wanted to be like her younger brother also! “Daddy, can I walk also?” she said with her cute face on.

Peregrinekit watched as a squirrel darted up a tree trunk, and hurried after it. He placed his front paws on the bark, looking up into the branches as the squirrel disappeared higher than he could hope to reach. He let out a growl under his breath, trying to mask his disappointment.

“Now now little hunter, how about you catch a mouse instead.” BadgerStorm mewed but also making sure Firekit didn’t go to far. She was the type of kit who would run off just to play.

Firekit watched her younger brother try to hunt and she wanted to try also. She looked around before seeing a bird. She pounced at the bird but completely missed and started to cry. Her father came over to reassure her but she wanted the bird.

Peregrinekit looked over at Firekit with some concern, although he quickly realized she was just reacting loudly like she usually did. He didn't wear his emotions quite so brazenly, and it was hard for him to understand her reactions. He decided to let his father handle it, and batted a small rock between his paws. As it turned over, he noticed a weird little bug under it. When he put a paw close to it, it rolled into a ball, making the tom kit giggle.

"Dad, Firekit, look at this funny bug!"

BadgerStorm tried to cheer up his daughter but to no avail but when her brother called she instantly became Happy. He wondered if the two kits would become even more close as they got older or would separate to their own ways.


Firekit stopped crying when she heard her brother calling. She bounded over to see the bug and started giggling. “That’s a funny bug.” she mewed poking it with a claw and watches as it rolled over.

Peregrinekit giggled harder, nosing the balled up little creature so that it rolled a bit. He looked up at Firekit with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Dare ya to eat it!"

She looked at her brother than down at the bug. She didn’t want to seem weak to her younger brother so she nodded. She ate the bug and almost spit it out again as it was really crunchy.

BadgerStorm watched his kits play with the bug but when firekit started eating it he had enough. “Come on guys, let’s keep going.” He said.

Peregrinekit cackled with laughter, batting playfully at his sister with a paw. "Woah, you did it! What'd it taste like? I wanna try one!"

Firekit looked ya her brother with a disgusted smile. “Prey and milk is way better than bugs.” she said in disgust.

BadgerStorm laughed as his kits talked about bugs. He noticed they were in a clearing so he sat down and let his kits play.

Peregrinekit giggled at her expression. He still was curious if he would like the bug, but he didn't see any more of them. A little breeze blew a leaf that was still on the ground, and the brown tabby darted after it, leaping for it.

Firekit ran after her brother and giggled the whole time. She was happy that the two were awake when their dad came. She felt bad that stormkit wasn’t there but she was still having fun. She pounced on peregrinekit once he caught the leaf.

BadgerStorm groomed his fur as his kits played.

Peregrinekit laughed, rolling as his sister pounced on him. The leaf ripped in his tiny sharp claws, which was disappointing, but he just kept rolling, attempting to gain the upper paw in the situation.

As they rolled firekit made sure she was always on top of her brother who was twice her size. She was oldest so wanted to prove how strong she was.
